Firm Overview
An ongoing commitment to excellence, professionalism and ethics
Our firm, which has offices in Vancouver and Montreal, mainly focuses on immigration services to business people who wish to use Canada's immigration programs (Investor Category). Our approach is quite simple: we want to offer a sophisticated service to sophisticated people. Many Canadian immigration lawyers try to have as many clients as possible in as many fields as possible (refugees, students, business people, etc.). Not our firm. We dedicate our efforts to high net worth individuals who want to use investor immigration programs to immigrate to Canada. Consequently, we only handle a limited number of carefully chosen cases each year in order to offer a superior and distinguished immigration service to our clients. We cooperate with many attorneys around the world to ensure that our knowledge of the Canadian immigration landscape is matched with expert local knowledge in various countries.
Dominic Therrien previously practiced in Montreal with a prestigious Canadian firm for a number of years where he represented, among others, many major financial institutions as a commercial litigator (including in litigations related to the Quebec Immigrant Investor Programs). Mr. Therrien made representations on a regular basis to the Superior Court of Quebec and, on a few occasions, to the Quebec Court of Appeal, the highest provincial tribunal in Quebec. Mr. Therrien also worked in China for three (3) years to assist high net worth Chinese clients in relation with the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program but also in relation with the Federal Immigrant Investor Program. Mr. Therrien now focuses his practice quasi-exclusively on Canada's business immigration matters.
In addition to his Quebec law degree, he pursued undergraduate studies in political science at the Université de Montréal, and graduate studies in international politics at the Université de la Sorbonne (Paris, France). Mr. Therrien was called to the Law Society of Quebec (Barreau du Québec) and to the Law Society of British Columbia. Mr. Therrien's law career followed several years of playing professional baseball in the Atlanta Braves organization. He also taught political science before becoming an attorney.
Christopher Atchison, who was called to the Quebec Bar (Barreau du Québec) in 1989 and to the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario) in 1994, has his own practice but also practices via Therrien International and is in charge of our Montreal office. He has practiced law for almost twenty years and was for many years a partner in a major Canadian national firm. Mr. Atchison has acquired significant experience in civil and commercial litigation as well as in the area of intellectual property. He has represented parties, both as Plaintiffs and as Defendants, before the Quebec Superior Court, the Quebec Court of Appeal as well as before the Federal Court of Canada.
